Private hire - the details

Bootleg Banquet is one of London's most established underground restaurants.
Run by experienced professional chefs, we cook delicious food with exceptional ingredients, in an open kitchen creating a fun, lively atmosphere with artful lighting, flowers, linens and a finely crafted, eclectic playlist - delivering a feast for the senses.

Imagine having this place all to yourself.

No waiting for a table, no awkward “who’s paying for Larry’s Cocktail habit?” moment, and no “we will need your table back at 9pm” conversation with the surly model at the front desk.

Bootleg Banquet hosts private dinner parties for up to 30 seated guests.

Here is how it works:

First, get in touch to tell us more about your celebration, how many guests you have, the date etc

We will work with you to create a night that is special in every respect, from designing a menu that reflects your taste to all those extra details like birthday cakes, canapĂ©s or even a special cocktail on arrival. So please feel free to ask and we can advise you about the options.

Then, to confirm your booking, a deposit of £100 is payable, which is deducted from your final bill unless you cancel within 7 days of your event.
Guest numbers and dietary restrictions need to be confirmed 5 days preceding your event to allow us enough time to place orders and prepare.

Our drinks policy is BYOB (we offer a glass of Prosecco, London Tap, mixers and plenty of ice).

To go ahead with your function, we will need cleared funds for the full amount 48 hours prior to your event. This needs to be transferred as one amount.

To get in touch and discuss your dinner, call Pieter on 0777 9272862 or Linda on 07837 302160

Bad Taste

School nights are for staying out, misbehaving and generally being fabulous. Ask Dawn Davenport and friends Chicklette and Concetta if you don’t believe us.

Join us for a night celebrating the films of John Waters with a proper Baltimore Crawfish Boil followed by a secret screening of his 1974 masterpiece Female Trouble.

If you're not up on this piece of midnight movie history, be prepared to laugh, cry (and maybe throw up a little) as you follow Dawn’s career from bas-ass teenager to waitress, stripper, prostitute and finally her pinnacle and demise as a fashion muse.

So slip on your cha-cha heels , Leopard prints and back comb that do, this is Bootleg Banquet with camp turned to full volume. To quote Aunt Ida, we “worry that you’ll work in an office, have children, celebrate wedding anniversaries. The world of the heterosexual is a sick and boring life.”

Tickets are just £37.50 including booking fee, and available HERE through Edible Experiences.

Bootleg Booty

June, mythologically speaking, celebrates  birth, youth, love and beauty. And with luck there will be sunshine too - it’s all wrapped up in one splendid, month-long package!

Chefs celebrate June as the real beginning of the season of plenty, and so we have a host of delicious events to entice you with.
First of all, the MidSummer Weekend madness that is the Bootleg Banquet pop-up at the Dead Dolls House on Hoxton Square – a gorgeously quirky private members’ club with full bar and wine list – where we present our trademark Big Food, Flavours and Fun, over two nights on June 20 and 21. And for only £20pp, it’s guaranteed to be a gobsmackingly good night out.
The menu and all the details on how to book are here:
http://billetto.co.uk/bootleg for the Friday sitting (7.30pm)
http://billetto.co.uk/bootleg-95d5b5 for the first sitting on Saturday (6pm)
The venue has a roof terrace too, for pre and post dinner drinks.

MORE DATES
Our next Three-Course Thursday is July 31 –  Pimm’s and barbecue on the terrace. It doesn’t get more seasonal than that.
It’s a school night, but it’s SO nearly the weekend … come and join us for a evening of good food, good friends and good times. Umbrellas optional.

Pocket sommelier
We love that guests can choose and bring their own drinks to Bootleg Banquet without having to pay corkage. That means you may wish to spend a little more (or a little less) on the wine that you might from a restaurant wine list. But the choice is unlimited and how do you know good value (or great flavour) when you see it on a supermarket shelf?
We think you’d like WOTWINE, a free app that offers  professional wine advice at your fingertips, when you scan a wine bottle barcode. Each wine is given a tasting description and a  WOTWINE price to reflect its actual value, rather than the price on the shelf. We think it’s a great idea, and a perfect match with supperclubs.
Supperclub love
If you like supperclubs you'll love London Pop-Ups. It’s a great resource for Londoners, providing info on pop-ups and supperclubs and a host of foodie events. Follow them on Twitter @LondonPopUps or sign up for their newsletter so you don’t miss out

Three-Course Thursday May 29

We love our Thursday Bootlegs -  it's a great way to get the weekend started, and a popular night for going out with colleagues and friends after work, so where better to spend a few social hours than round a dinner table, with restaurant quality food and your own wine in good company?

If you've never been to a supperclub before it's an excellent introduction - the guests are friendly and you will almost certainly make new friends. We have an open kitchen and you can watch professional chefs prepare your meal.

We don't charge for corkage or service, and we're famous for our great playlists, too.

On May 29 we have an awesome Spring menu (and we always include a few treats, too):

Prosecco on arrival
Pea, broad bean and mint risotto with ricotta (V)
***
Slow-roast porchetta with Puy lentils, roasted tomato, fennel
V: Aubergine stuffed with feta, thyme, breadcrumbs with Puy lentils, fennel, roasted tomato
***
Coconut pannacotta with lime and black pepper strawberries, hazelnut praline

The tickets are just £35pp (plus booking fee) and you can book here

Big country, big flavours, big night

Eat and drink South Africa - April 29, 30

Chefs never stop talking about food and Pieter and I are no exception, but in the Bootleg Banquet kitchen in Shoreditch, we mostly talk about the foods, dishes and recipes of our African childhoods.

The stories wax and wane around Pieter’s Afrikaner roots – his mom's long, slow braises with fruit, vinegar and spices – and my English upbringing on the Eastern Cape coast where mielies, fresh fish and vetkoek with home-made apricot jam were always on the menu.

We've come a long way since then but the warmth and generosity (and sunshine) of South Africa is still the backbone of everything we do.

So we’re celebrating the big flavours of the Big Continent - in honour of Freedom Day and UK polling day for the May election - in our supperclub kitchen, collaborating with our great friend and Hout Bay boytjie Grant Hawthorne (of the fiery and addictive African Volcano periperi sauce without which no poached egg, prawn or pulled-pork sandwich is complete), and Jean-Louis Holtzhauzen, from The Cape Wine Academy in London.

We invite you to come along for a full-on five-course tasting menu with matched wines. And of course we'll be lighting the fire. We hope to stir your taste-buds with remembered flavours and introduce a few new ones too - it all adds up to a fabulous night!

THE MENU:

Mini vetkoek stuffed with snoek pate
